Default Jeep cherokee 1990 ac

Hey guys, I have a 1990 xj. 6 cyl 4.0 ltr. I was using the ac, turned off car went back in and ac won't turn on now. Is there a relay or fuse that maybe went bad? It's hot down here in south Florida.

I got a new relay for it. But can't find where it goes. I thought it was under the dash on the passenger side. Anyone know?

The inside fuse panel is under the dash on the drivers side. If its not there, there is also another panel under the hood. Its located on the passengers side in front of the coolant bottle.

My blower quit on my 1996 cherokee sport. I replaced the blower, resistor, checked fuses and relays under hood. What did I miss?

It seems like the compressor isn't turning on. Im pretty sure the switch board is working, cause when I move the dial I hear sounds under the dash board. Idk if there's a different fuse for the compressor or blower motor that I'm missing. Anyone know?

If yours is the same as my '96, the AC clutch relay is under the hood in the box, just above the battery. If you open it up, on the inside of the lid is a diagram that will show you which one is the AC clutch. It will be in the second row closest to you. The connection to recharge the AC is the line going into the AC compressor on the right as you face the vehicle. Just buy some refrigerant, turn on the vehicle, put the AC to maximum and follow the filling instructions on the bottle.

Is your blower blowing or is your Air not cooling? My 96' makes a little noise under the dash when I turn on the car but its just the vent control opening. Mine is not working also but I think its just the fan control switch, which I havent been able to check.

When I turn it on nothing comes out if the vents. I'm beginning to think it's the blower too because wouldn't the vents the bring the outside air in atleast work? Is there a relay/fuse for the blower motor or do I just have to replace it?

I dont have a fuse box anywhere under the hood just these 4 relays. I replaced all of them hoping one of them would be for the ac but I guess not.

1990 not the same as 1996 ie: R12 vs. R134A. Shops can still buy R-12. but it's really expensive.

To the OP, you may be $$$$ ahead having a shop diagnose & repair this for you.

I had the mechanic at my Job look at it. He thinks it's the blower motor. So I'm gonna see if it's getting electricity. If not then the fuse or something else I forgot what he called it. It's under the dash. If it is getting elec. then the motor is out. So I'll go test it.
