Hey guys I'm a newb and just took my xj out for a wheelin trip last weekend only to have my 2WD fail(no rear drive) so had to drive home in 4high with FWD. There is a ton of play in the rear driveline and leakage coming from the seal resulting in a bone dry tcase. My question is do I just go ahead and buy a new used t-case or try to rip it apart. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

You didnt say what case you have, so I'm gonna assume it's a np231. Rip it apart just for s***s and giggles and see whats goin on. Its a simple case and you can find plenty of info on how to take it apart. But from the symptoms you're describing I would say you have a bad set of plantery gears, which will require a replacement case
