Default I've got a problem

Hey guys, This is my first post here, even though I don't own a Jeep quite yet. My story is, I found out that a good friend of mine was selling his 94 two door Cherokee Sport last week. He has made some small modifications to the engine, and also has it lifted 6 inches on 33 inch tires. It almost makes me drool whenever I see it, so when I found out that he will sell it to me for 750 bucks I flipped out. Everything checked out, the suspension is nice at higher speeds, and he replaced the clutch recently. He just wants to sell it quickly so he can get a newer car for commuting to school. My mom (because she would occasionally be driving it do to me still living at school) has driven it and gave the okay, BUT, right before my Dad and I went to check the mechanical side of things today, she made a comment that if it didn't have a drivers side airbag she wouldn't allow me to purchase it at all. Guess what? It doesn't.

So I come to you guys and all your knowledge of XJs to see if there is a way around this. Is it possible to do some sort of air bag retrofit from a newer Cherokee that does have air bags? I know it would probably be a big hassle, but I'm willing to spend the time and money cause I really want this Jeep. If that doesn't work, does anybody know about an aftermarket air bag system I could install?

Thanks a lot.

in order to do this you would need a new computer, harness and possible steering colum...you will spend more on the swap than the price of the jeep...where are you located?

get a wheel from a newer jeep and put it in there. she said it has to have an airbag, she didnt say it has to have an airbag that will go off in the case of an accident! besides...airbags are overrated people get hurt by them so much....my .02.

That SUX cause I believe they started air bags in 1995 ...Tj

Darn. That sucks. Do you guys have any ideas on how to make the seat belts safer? I personally would rather not have my arms broken and thumbs pulled out of sockets from an air bag deployment, but grr. Not my choice.

I'm in Columbia SC
