And the big plastic nut is on the TOP of the tank so it will have to be taken off AFTER the tank is pulled out

And just cuz I'm bored I'll tell you this: to remove the tank you have to drain the gas as best you can by syphoning or how ever you spell that, then crawl under the Jeep and right above the axle you find your electrical and fuel line connections. Cuss and rant and rave till you have all that stuff unplugged then open the fuel cap lid and unbolt the filler neck. Go back under the Jeep and try to get those stupid fuel tank straps loose by loosening the 2 nuts on each side with a gear wrench (think it's 9/16 but may be 1/2) Once you have them loosened about 4 inches where the nut is about to fall off the bolt, bench press the thing into the bottom of the Jeep and unhook the tank strap bolts from the frame and crawl out from under there with the tank on top of you. Now refer to previous comments for what to do next

Brake cleaner as stated is a very good slovent, not a plastic friendly one either,
spraying it in to start the engine, is not good for many reasons, to me the most important one is it will "wash" the lubricant from the upper cylinders, leading to excess wear on the piston rings, not quite as dangerous as doing this on a fresh engine but its playing with fire, done enough fuel pump will be the least of your problems. Also if midas replaced the fuel pump, look at the paperwork and see what kind of warranty they have before you drop the tank as this may void said warranty for $1K they should have given some sort of guarantee, follow the directions given for testing the relays, and such.

I believe it's on top is why you need to drop the tank. Do you hear it run when you turn the key on? Is there power at the ballast resistor by the air cleaner? I think the rear wire there goes to the pump.

This model doesn't have the ballasts only a relay located in the passenger's side fuse box

They discontinued the ballasts in 91 I believe... when the HO came out and the antiChrysler took over ownership. Things did get better I admit till 97 when we all got plastic tanks lol. I'm kinda on the crazy side but what I did on my Jeep when I got it was shoot 12v straight to the wire that ran the fuel pump out of the relay box to see if it worked or not. Sure enough it kicked on even though the guy I bought it from said it ha a bad fuel pump. Try a missing ECM fuse PSHH!!

Fuel pumps simple but I would try a new fuel filter on my 95 there's a round canister beside the unibody with a hose going into one side and out the other cheap and simple to fix just pull the hoses off and hook them to the new one there will be an arrow on new one it points to the front of the jeep

If you hear fuel pump sound for about 2-5 sec. when you turn ign. on,
you (or mechanic) should connect fuel pressure gauge to fuel rail. Pressure should be about 40-48 PSI.
If pressure is low, most likely you have bad fuel pump or pressure regulator(inside tank on 97). I diagnosed problem after removing unit from tank and it was regulator ($80 from dealer)
