You can just unbolt the mirrors off a 97+ and put them on a pre 97. I did on mine. They bolt right up.But still need to figure out the wiring. I got the wires inside the doors and hidden but not wired up.

it is a little rough with the sway bar connected but they are stiff enough I am able to ride with it disconnected, and it handles great. Even while make abrupt evasive maneuvers. and please don't ask how I know.

glad I could come with a good topic and people could provide good info ^_^
So if i go with some f150 coils, s10 leafs and 1" shackles or blocks I should get an even 4.5 inches of lift according to 1990_cherokee. However I don't want it to be rough as its also a DD and I'm a little leery of having no sway bar but if your personal experience has been good I might test it out.
Now the major thing I need to know is, would a 4.5in lift require other mods like longer lower control arms, adjustable drag link bar, adjustable track bar, and the 1inch drop zj pitman arm? and so on? Brake lines are easy.
The drag link and track bar should be close to even angles correct?
Thanks guys and sorry for so many questions, still just trying to sort this all out before I go buying a predone lift kit when I could get more out of a JW lift and have money to spend elsewhere on the jeep.

if your worried about the ride quality. you could go with ome lift springs there only $75 and ome is know for there great ride quality then go with a s10 bastard pack. longer lower control arms and shocks and that will get you in the 3 inch range pretty cheap. im glad i found this thread though cause it may have added a inexpensive upgrade to my plan which is
ome 3" coils - $75
ome lca - $100 (now i might go with rear wj lca's)
s10 bastard pack - $jy springs
rc9000 shocks - $140 (if penny pinching you could go with rc8000's for - $120)
and now im thinking of adding a zj pitman arm

for his 89 he won't need a slip yoke eliminator or tcase drop. i have 5" on my 87 and have neither of those and it rides smooth at which ever speeds i feel like driving. i also have no drop pitman arm and it steers fine.
the one extra mod i did because a buddy with 5" did it on his is i bought a control arm drop kit. that made a day and night difference in the ride quality.
here is what you "need" for an older cherokee to run 5" of lift
front and rear brake lines
lift with shocks
tires
to make it ride better
control arm drop kit
i know on the newer ones you guys do need the sye and tc drop and all that jazz but thats from you guys having the other style pinion on the dif then us older cherokee guys do.

Most times it really depend on the rig. I've seen so many different rigs all with different setups. For some reason some do and some don't. I've seen two of the same year with the same lift and one had vibes and one didn't. It's weird how they work out like that lol My advice is just to do it ahead of time while you got most stuff apart. I already prepped mine for more lift even though I might not even need the tcase drop. Better to do it before you get finished and realize you need it.

lol i hope thats a joke
he said he doesnt have a DROPPED pitman arm
and yes I will be getting RC nitro 9000 shocks and YJ brake lines. And thanks for the heads up on the blocks although I was going to use shackles anyway.
I doubt I'll ever be going over 4.5 inches of lift either, but I think ill go ahead and grab a ZJ pitman arm at the JY and eventually get a set of RC longer and angled lower control arms, these to be specific, only $99 bucks.
From their just upgrade tie rods n stuff I guess, maybe eventually a d44 ^_^
Oh and better tires :P Im not sure whats on their now but I know their big enough to rub when I turn to sharp back out and their a decent all terrain. to measure tires just go from the ground to the top right?
thanks everyone!
Ill take pics of the whole process whenever it gets done!
