Default Intro and Steering gear box question

Hi all, got my 1998 xj about 2 weeks ago. I bought it from my parents, who are the original owners. So I know the complete history of this vehicle. It's got 178k miles. I've been lurking around here for the better part of 2 months learning all sorts of good stuff about the xj. This site is awesome!

I took it to a self serve car wash and cleaned it up a bit, including cleaning the underbody a bit. Of course when I got home and parked, I walked around front and noticed a puddle forming from a drip on the driver side. My first thought was coolant, but then saw the fluid was brown. Looked where the drip was coming from and it is from the steering box. The box and the lines are pretty rusty, so I am looking to just replace with new/rebuilt.

I am planning a 2" lift with 31" tires, nothing crazy. I can get a OE rebuilt from the local shop, or buy a new AGR or PSC box from a site like quadratec. I also saw the thread on the Durango steering box swap.

My question is, are the AGR or PSC boxes that much better than OE to make them worth more than double a rebuilt? What would be the better route for me to go? Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I don't mind spending the money for the AGR or PSC boxes IF they are truly that much better quality. This will be my daily driver with minimal light trail runs.

Wow, not sure why I didn't think of looking at the warranties. That was actually a big help.

The AGR and PSC units both have only a 90 day limited warranty, whereas the re-manufactured OE unit from a local chain store carries a limited lifetime warranty.

I guess that's good since the reman unit is the cheapest.

Thanks for your help, freegdr!
