Default interupting the asd relay for a kill switch / engine prime

bit of an odd request, but since my cherokee has a bunch of miles and likes to rev up to 2000 right after cold starting and settle back down. Since this is horrible for the bearings. I want to be able to not have spark or fuel to crank the engine over to prelube it before starting. so I thought about putting a normally closed push button switch on the ASD relay trigger side so there is no power to the injectors or coil when the button is pushed so that the engine can crank to bring up oil to everwhere.. anyone else done anything like this? I don't see any problems with doing so, other than some extra wear to the starter, but I just might be missing something.. any yay's or nay's?

Is the engine making knocking noises when starting?

What weight oil are you using now? 5W-XX?

I wouldn't mess with the ASD circuit at all.

You may want to clean the IAC pintle and its orifice in the TB, which may help on the high end of the RPM climb at start, but going to 2,000 RPM momentarily is not unheard of.

Fix it, don't cover up the problem with a half-*** "repair". That is unless you have no other option. i'd check the TPS with a multimeter

For how long? The PCM opens the IAC wide up when cranking, it's only once the engine starts does it try to set idle RPM. Mine reliably hits 1900 RPM for half a second on every start. If yours stays there longer then clean the IAC as it's probably sticking

Both of mine only jump to about 1400 but it is 60 degrees out.
Clean the iac like others have said.
