Bought my 1998 Cherokee 4.0L about 2 months ago for $200 pulled it out of a field where it’s sat for about 4 years (had bad transmission). Done TONS of work myself since it over heats I’ll only mention the cooling parts. Once I got it running I have noticed the hose underneath the radiator cap gets coolant on it and appears to slowly leak from cap, I’ve since replaced cap and it still leaks I’ve even tightened the ears on the cap with pliers from advice from a previous post. I put 300 miles on it and my water pump gasket started leaking. Replaced the water pump and gasket and about 300 miles later the “Check Gages” light comes on temp pegs to 260 right around the corner from the house. Thermostats easy enough to replace and dirt cheap so I done that. About 50 to 100 miles later again “check gages” temp pegged to 260. Pulled over at the nearest place I could and by then the system was boiling I could hear it from inside. Pop the hood steam everywhere over flow jug was having a seizure (shaking violently/ boiling) let it cool down and dropped it off at my shop and decided to make this post to see if anyone else is experiencing similar issues. How y'all would go about diagnosing the issue?
