Default Intermittent skipping due to coolant in combustion chamber?

2001 Cherokee Sport with an Air Raid cool air filter & autmatic transmission.

I bought this Cherokee in March 2010 and had a check engine light.
It was originally a code for a fuel evap leak. I replaced the gas cap with a stock one & fixed an intake leak in the tubing coming from the fuel evap cannister. The light wouldn't stay cleared but the engine still ran & idled well, plus had plenty of power.

Early Fall 2010 I replaced the water pump. During the next month or so I noticed the engine idled just a little rough at first, but then the check engine light started flashing & the engine began skipping. I discovered that the radiator cap was loose (my fault, of course) and the open air filter was soaked in coolant. I tightened the cap, cleaned the filter but now I'm plagued with intermittant skipping & a low idle speed (500 rpm or so).

Mostly, it begins skipping when I'm cruising with the rpms at 1500 or less. When at 2000 or higher, it mostly runs well. Also, on humid days it seems to skip even more. Oddly, if I turn off the iginiton and restart, it runs smoothly for a while but skips again if I get too slow.

I've switched out the TPS, IAC, spark plugs & coil rail. I haven't done anything with the injectors. Is it possible that this is related to the intake pulling in coolant?

Thanks for your thoughts on this. (BTW, I've read dozens of posts on this forum but nothing has helped yet.)

So far this has generated no responses. I know from what I've seen of previous questions that someone here can come up with a likely solution.

I'd appreciate an attempt.

Coolant in the intake may require some cleaning. Did you try that?

As for spark plugs, the 2000-2001 do best with NGKs I'm using the NGK v power.
You are aware of the 0331 head issue? Keep a close eye on your coolant level and don't ever let the jeep overheat.

Thanks for the response.
I don't believe it has overheated. I usually keep an eye on the temp gauge.

I haven't cleaned out the intake, so that is something I can look at one afternoon this week. I don't remember what brand spark plug I installed but I'll replace these this week. I've always assumed that spark plugs will work when I get new ones from a parts store.

My other vehicle is a '97 S10 4-banger & it's been very reliable and can take some neglect. I'm discovering that Jeeps can be finicky. (But I still love it)

Again, thank you for the advice..
