Default Interior lighting for AC controls

The title isn't the best, but my question is, the area where your vent/ac controls for temp. and defrost and heat and all that, is that area supposed to light up at night when you have your lights on? The area where park and drive and then the 4wd section lights up when i have my lights on, but not the temp. control area. Thanks for the help

My light broke when I had the assembly apart. Your bulb is probably burned out. Gotta pull the assembly and replace it. Not real difficult just pull the plastic around it and there's 4 screws. I don't know.what kinda bulb it is cause I lost it..... if you find out let me know cause I need one. Tiny little sucker.

I have never personally seen an XJ with that light that actually worked.

Hahaha mine used to... I crunched it when I was messing around with the.assembly. when the bulb goes out I would imagine a lot of people just leave it alone figuring its more hassle then tsunami worth. Really not that difficult to change.though... if your dash lights work that light should too.

Ok. I think I will look at it today. I think mine worked up till I put a new headunit in. But I know I didn't mess with anything concerning the hvac controls. Must have bumped that light. Ill need to buy one of them and one for under the hood too. Might do led...

Just pulled mine apart. Sure enough the bulb is blown. It's black....a little. And I tested it and won't light up. No lettering or numbers on it but here is a pic. Any one know what king of bulb it is?

Looks like he 74 x and 74 xHP will work. I may go that route for a bulb. What do you think?

74 x HP3 would work best. There's a white color to choose from. Warm white to be exact. Think ill buy this one. I need to find out what bulb to buy for under the hood too.

Yep. Also the 1156 bulb can be used under the hood. Just FYI. Glad I got this figured out. Bugging the crap outta me.
