i have a 98 grand cherokee 5.2l v-8 special edition, im having a interior light problem, when the fuse is in the lights will not turn off doesnt matter if the doors are all shut or with the engine running or not, i tried replacing the relay and nothing, replaced the 4 door switches (except the hatch) and still nothing, tried unplugging the hatch door switch with all other doors closed and the lights were still on, so pretty much the only way to shut them off is pulling the plug. not sure what else to do. now im going to give a little more info they may help with figuring the problem out, i bought the grand about 4 months ago and had the lighting problem right off the bat, but i found out it was my rear passenger door switch so i replaced the switch and it was fixed. then within that same week i had a viper security/keyless entry installed and a few days after that i had quite a few problems arise, #1 my automatic doorlocks stopped working ( locks the doors at 15-20mph) but the switches on my door still works and my remote still works to unlock and lock the doors BUT when my truck is shut off and key out my button on my door will unlock the truck but will no longer lock the truck but the remote will lock & unlock the truck. #2 normally with the keys in the ignition and engine off or with the lights still on and the ignition off and the driver door open you get a chime but no i dont get a chime for either the door or keys in ignition, #3 during the day i can toggle my headlights on and off or with the wipers on the automaticly come on BUT at night when my light kick on automaticly i can turn my switch all i want or just leave it in the off position and they stay on (weird fact on this problem, if i have the switch turned to the automatic position they will come on and stay on but every once in a while they will go haywire and flicker on and off) #4, similar to problem #3 when ever my parking lights or lowbeams are on weither its night or day i can not turn my stock foglight off for the life of me i can hit the fog light button all i want and they will not turn off at all, unless i engage the highbeams. those are all the problems the arose a few days after the install of the viper alarm system, now im not sure if all of this has to do with the alarm system or possibly 1 one or many internal problems, i was told it could possibly be the headlight switch itself that is causing half or all the problems but i am not 100% sure and dont have the money to be replacing alot of parts or paying someone to re-install the security system, so im hoping that there is someone else out there that has had this problem with there grand cherokee. please help this stuff is starting to get annoying. thank you.
