Hello my instrument cluster light shut off while I was driving down the road. I was just wondering where the light is. Thanks.

 

What about the lights on the gearshift? If they are out also it's likely your switch. Try fiddling with/turning it. By the way, they are on the same fuse as the rear running lights. I was scratching my head wondering why mine where out when more lights came on in the rear view. Red ones!

To change the bulb the cluster comes out.(not that bad)

 

I believe its my switch then. Do you know if a 1990 cherokee has the same switch as my 91

 

No, the dealer should though. So your tail lights work and it's not the fuse. Try really turning/cranking that switch around just to be sure. Sometimes mine is a bit well.....cranky!

 

bulbs are burnt out.

I know , I had to rend the dash apart to replace all 10....

yes ten......for the middle control panel and the 4wd shif console as well.

they were all burnt out....just age, switch is fine (that is another painful story).

but they are small and they are like GE or SYLVANIA bulbs like 655 or something like that....cheap.
just a lot of work to get to a point to replace them....and many many later......sat morning early, driveway... sun morning early completed! yay!
