Default Installing a new water pump

I have a 93 Cherokee Sport and have noticed recently that antifreeze has been leaking out of the front of my engine. I had had trouble with the radiator and installed a new one about 2 months ago. Through searching I learned that my jeep is weeping and this means it is time for a new water pump. Does anyone have experience installing water pumps that would be able to tell me how difficult it is? I have done some work on my car, like I said new radiator, and helped my dad work on his cars, but besides that I have no real experience. If possible just trying to save some money

it's easy. to remove the serp belt, the adjuster is on the power steering pump. then remove the clutch fan and unbolt the water pump. what i have done for the bolts is trace the new water pump on a piece of cardboard and when you pull a bolt, just pop it through the cardboard in the correct spot in the traced pattern.

use some rtv on the new gasket when you put it all back together.

you might want to pull the upper rad hose off at the thermostat and maybe replace that too.

and maybe grab yourself a haynes manual, it will help you out a bunch.

hey thanks for the quick response. i hopefully will either be replacing it on this Friday or Saturday, I'll be sure to respond about how it went. and that cardboard idea is a good one will definitely save a lot of frustration.

make sure you have some pb blast and a vice clamp or a tough knee. you have to take the tube off the old pump and put it on the new pump. you will see what I mean if you don't know what I am talking about. pb blast it and put it on a table vice and use vise clamps and twist it out. I had to use a large wrench as a breaker bar to get enough leverage. but I used my knee to hold it down, but I do weigh around 300lbs.

any way I am a novice and I did it by myself. Not hard at all.
