Installing ac in non ac xj

Installing ac in non ac xj
My 1997 xj never had ac in it and I want it. Anyone try this before I know all the parts I need except if I need a new heater box. So I need compressor, condenser, accumulator, evaporator, and control unit. What am I getting into

IMO, i think you're in for a BIG MAJOR project which you might regret once you get to the point of no return.
My 2 cents and IMO,
unless i lived in Phoenix, i'd roll down the windows and call it a day and wait for the weather to change.
And if i did live in Phoenix, i'd trade it in for another XJ with factory AC.

I've done this on a custom van I had . you will need the wiring also and maybe the computer so it will be a big job . you almost need a xj of the same year that has all the parts you need . you mite think about getting another xj . maybe one that in good shape that needs a motor or maybe a trans that you can use part form the xj you have now. but if you love the xj you have now good luck with the a/c job it's a lot of work but it can be done .
