When installing my 6.5" long arm lift from Rough Country, I was just wondering other than basic tools (sockets, possible impact wrench, air compressor, etc.) along with a cut off saw for the control arm brackets, and brake bleeding tools for installing the stainless brake lines, what sort of other equipment may I need? i.e. how high must I raise the front and rear end to fit the suspension plus install 33" tires and is there anything I should be aware of or need to purchase before I begin?

 

you will need a floor jack, several jack stands, metric wrenches, standard, you may need coil spring compressors, you may also need more than 1 floor jack.

 

PB Blaster or something like it.

 

i ended up buying 4 jackstands and 2 floor jacks, i put blocks of 4x4 under the jackstands to get them to go high enough. also, dont bother with coil spring compressors, jack the body up all the way, like under the lower control arm mounts or something, and let the front axle drop all the way. when everything is unbolted the front axle will slide right out, and you can just slide the coil springs out. i hate spring compressors

 

might need ratchet straps or a come-along to line up the lower control arms. Sometimes they dont line up and need some persuasion. But you might get lucky and not need them

 

Man... everyone forgot the most important tool for any Jeep project.... Don't forget to have your camera so you can document it for your build thread!!! I would pretty much say that you got everything covered... Can't wait to see it completed...

 

hmm.. ive yet to have a need to do this. i usually get a buddy and have him or i push the axle and persuade it, as well as having two floor jacks under each side of the axle.

Might as well get them. They are "free" at Autozone/Advance, as long as you bring them back.

They really aren't hard to use, as long as you keep them in line and go back and forth evenly. I find it funny hearing people say they suck or don't work... simply a lack of patience.
