Install factory roof rack
Hey guys, not sure if this is the correct area to post this, but I just got my 98 XJ a couple weeks ago and I found a guy selling a factory roof rack with rails. I wanted to add it to mine but since mine didnt come with factory rails, I have to drill my own holes. Ive thought about silicone wrapped screws but not sure how long or if there is an easier way about doing this, any ideas or has anyone accomplished this before?

Not sure how Jeep did this. I used to put them on many years ago for a Chevy dealer. The rack came with a kit consisting of a roof template for the holes, a special drill bit and a pack of "Nut Serts" or rivets with threaded centers. If I had to do one today, I would carefully remove the roof header and bolt it in with reenforcing plates from the inside and put the header back in.
