I live in the wonderful state of NJ, and our inspections have been limited to emissions. My 99' sport passed everything with flying colors, EXCEPT for the "check engine" light that is on for no reason at all. My dash seems to have other problems, the airbag light goes on and off as it pleases, and sometimes when I turn it on the gas gauge is on E when I know it's at a half tank.

Anyone have similar electrical issues? If this is a dumb question, I'm sorry, but I am new to jeeps.

 

Well there is an old trick, its called taking 5 minutes before hand to remove the gauge cluster and unplug the cel light (Quick little trick)

But if I were you, I would go to like autozone or advance auto parts, and get the code pulled for free, it will tell you what code it is and what is wrong then we can help you fix it.

crazy, I went to the Secaucus Inspection Station and they just gave it a quick look, no CEL, and nothing 'looked' out of order, so they just passed it..............took less than 5 minutes.

 

Seems like a good idea... I'll figure it out.

Maybe I should go to Secaucus. Lol
