inside lights wont shut off...
My 1998 cherokee is having a prob, the inside lights stay on like a doors open. I'm tired of pulling the fuse, what wire can I cut to "delete" the little push buttons in the door jams for all 4 doors and the hatch?

not to sound like an *** but did you make sure the headlight switch to make sure it wasnt turned all the way to the right because that will also turn on all the dome lights.

I'm not sure about XJ's, but most interior light door switches work be completing a ground. If the switch is faulty, just unplug it and tape up the terminal on the wire so it doesn't touch ground.
It should be easy to find which switch is bad by unscrewing them from the door jambs. Once they don't make contact anymore, the light should go out. Of course, this is assuming it's a switch that's the problem.
I think the switches are pretty inexpensive.

Oh heck. Pull the bulbs and toss 'em in the glovebox.
Might disconnect the plug from the headlight switch and see if they go out. If they're still on...one of the ground wires is shorted to the chassis somewhere. If they go out the switch is bad.

I would guess that one of the switches that determine if your door is open are broken. So in order to figure out which switch is bad I would open one door at a time and disconnect this plug ( which disables the light from coming on when that door is open).
Once you figure out which switch is bad go buy a new one for like 5$ and replace it. Granted it might be something else causing the problem but worth a shot.
