Thanks for the information! I somehow managed to break the upper shift lever on my Cherokee, the end portion with the threads snapped right off. Ended up getting another one that was similar at the scrap yard.

Definitely helped me figure out how to take the lever apart, would have taken me a while. Cheers

A little more to add to this since the Tech Write-Up is locked; the Shifter Oil Seal, #4 in the write-up and part #4864226X, is a discontinued part per my local dealers, so get it while you can from the aftermarket. Also the correct Inner Boot, #E in the write-up, is Mopar part #52104217. This is for 97-01. It's special order through my local dealers. For 97 and newer, the hole in the transmission tunnel is more oval shaped than round like the one listed.
