Default Information on a Transmission cooler parts

Hello, My 98 xj recently developed a leak at the transmission cooler outlet line at the radiator, my original thought was that is was leaking at the quick disconnect, but upon further inspection, the elbow part that is attached to the radiator (see Picture below) seems to have been rubbing and wore a hole through it, My question is, is that a replaceable part? I really don't want to have to buy a new radiator as it is only 1 year old. Any help is greatly appreciated, I have a trip to make this weekend in the xj.

That is the part in question, it is leaking from the elbow. (Not my Radiator)

Not sure what would be rubbing there?
I've not seen it as a separate part but that doesn't mean it's not available. Something to alloy weld?

It is making contact with the part a part of the body in front of the rad, I am debating just using some steel stick on it as a quick fix so I can still make my trip.

Interesting you should mention that, I had to "relieve" that area of the body with a heavy hammer to allow my new radiator to fit without contact with that elbow

In my opinion, it should be possible to (at least temporarily) bypass the radiator section with 3/8" brass connectors, some hose and clamps.

Presumably you have the air cooled tranny fluid rad fitted in many XJ from Factory.

I replaced that with a 12" x 8" unit ( but left the radiator in the chain)

I also fitted a trans temp gauge, the trans fluid gets fairly hot when the radiator water temp approaches 220F

am almost sure the elbow screws out, so if there is a nearby wrecker...

My xj unfortunately did not come stock with the extra cooler, tonight I'm going to pull the rad and see what I can do to temporarily fix the leak, and maybe see if that part can actually be replaced.

Your temporary fix better not be temporary. If it fails on the road, your tranny can very rapidly turn into a heap of busted junk $$$$$$$.
Oh and remember that tranny fluid is very flammable too, nothing like spraying a flammable fluid into the engine bay.

Make sure your fix is a real fix, else you may have early transmission failure.

good luck

Transmission fluid isn't flammable since it has a flash point above 200 degrees, it is combustible however.
