Default Infamous no dash lights/odometer/trip not working

So I've read through tons of threads and was about to order a new cluster but before I do I just wanted to know if my problem is the same thing as these others. I have no dash lights, I replaced the headlight switch and still no dash lights, fuse for the dash lights is good. My odometer and trip odometer neither one work. I was originally going to buy a new speed sensor but at $125 that isn't going to fix my dash lights. Is my problem more than likely the gauge cluster? The cluster reads 221k on it so i know it's seen some use. It IS a '94 which I know is a problematic year.

Gauge clusters are all over eBay and I'm probably going to order one that reads similar mileage.

Also does the gauge cluster matter if my rig is a 5 speed? I know the shift indicator is not part of the main cluster.

How are the light bulb sockets or circuit strips?

The bulbs are in good shape and the strips on the back of the cluster look okay.

Mine was vibrating loose and a little corroded. I pulled it and cleaned the contact on the back of the cluster, put some dielectric grease on there. Haven't had a problem with it since, that was a little over a year ago. At least for me it was a quick and easy fix.

I've had it off and made sure it was plugged in really good.
