I am looking for a good, inexpensive thermostat that is RELIABLE.

Drove to work this morning and had no heat and the temp gauge was barely off the cold mark. Apparently my thermostat is stuck open and it is only about 5 months old.

This summer I replaced the stock radiator with a 3-core, new thermostat (local auto parts store), flushed the system, etc., etc., and everything worked great. Stayed cool in the summer, and had plenty of heat when it was cold - except for today.

Any suggestions?

 

Well I'm a fan of Napa parts myself. If you go to fountain tire and let them replace it for you with a t-stat from napa then fountain tire will warranty the part, so if it's something with the Jeep that kills them after 5 months you can just keep going back and getting free replacements lol.

 

i have always got mine from autozone and never had a problem with them.

 

I buy the cheapest one they sell. After all if you need to get home just take it out. I carry RTV with me at all times

 

Stant Super Stat. Under $5 and is a balanced, meaning it allows minimal flow when cold to prevent drastic drops in coolant temp.

 

Agreed, except mine cost me $6.50, but they also have a bigger motor in them and so they are more precise

 

I've gone through at least 3 of them in 4 years - either stuck open or stuck closed...

 

Stant superstat, paid like 9, best investment ever.

 

Mopar for under $10.

 

haha...i dont think ive ever seen an expensive thermostat...a few bucks between the best and just good...its about the most inexpensive part youll buy for your jeep...id hate to see you shopping for a head or oxygen sensor
