AH! 96, the 'twilight zone" year. It might help people who (unlike me), can help to know, is your fuel pressure regulator up on the fuel rail? If it IS, your pressure should be 39# with the vac line off, about 10 less with it on. If it's not on the rail, it's in the tank, and your pressure should be more like 49#
I believe it's tough to find the correct fuel pump for the later 96, (at least). I wonder if that could be related....
