1- car runs with a charged battery
2-car dies when battery drains
3-auto parts store said NOISE from alt but still good?
Simple solution
step 1 Never go back to that auto parts
step 2 go some where else and put in a new alt.
step 3 Kick friend in @$$ and and don't let him touch your Jeep ever again.

Funny Noise! What kind of parts store are you going to. The guy behind the counter should have known it was bad even though it tested fine. There testing machines aren't always right, trust me. When you buy the new Alt. have them test it right then and there. Just a small shot of reassurance at best. I have had bad ones out of the box. Try to buy a NEW one with a lifetime warranty.

My saturn manual says I can jump my '97, computer controlled car just find, it just has a recommended process... It's the same as old school jumping, just clip the negative cable to a ground point on the motor block instead of the negative terminal on the battery...
