Ignition/starting problem
I know there was a thread on this but unable to find it. I have a question for anyone here who must know more than I. I started working on my jeep because of high costs. Haven't done anything with the ignition, etc.
My question is: This just started a few days ago. I got in, started it up, drove down the road, tried to start it up when leaving and no go. After a few turns and waiting to see what I was going to do, turned the key and it started.
Now, its still doing it, got up this morning and it started right up. I let it warm up a bit, drove it around the block, cut it off and same thing...won't start. I did find that when it wouldn't start in the park position, it would in neutral.
Any help would be great, I'm not sure what to look at in order to fix this and money is on a tight budget.
Thanks for your help,
Bill

It appears that your problem is the neutral start switch. This switch allows the engine to start only in park and neutral. It grounds the starting circuit in these 2 position.
There are 2 type switches. One can be removed and clean and adjusted. The other just gets replaced. It depends on the transmission installed.
Here is the one that can be cleaned.
