hi everyone i have a 1990 cherokee 4.0 without power locks or windows. it did have a factory alarm, but is now disconnected. ok so the question is my ignition tumbler will not move into the lock position. i already changed the tumbler and the new one has the same problem. Please help with suggestions to the problem! thanks

 

wiggle the steering wheel while trying to turn the key...

 

i tried that it did not work, could it be a relay or something thats not letting it go to the lock position. im really out of ideas

 

naw... like the key is stuck? you cant get it back out??

 

well the key can come in and out but it wont go to the lock position and you can start it without the key because of it. i tried putting a new tumbler in but it did the same thing other than the key coming out, with the new one it is stuck in there and not in the lock position

 

hhmm... i think something is not installed right man... or the ignition switch down at the bottom of the steering column is hanging up... there is a rod that pushed and pulls down there... on he top of it... hard to see... make sure its all clear and nothing in the way of it... maybe take it out and see if the key turns then... if not then somethings not right in the tumbler... OR theres a secret button your suppose to be hitting to get it out... lol
