ignition barrel

ignition barrel
hi guys
hope i'm in the right place, i have a cherokee 2.5 crd sport 2004(liberty to ye guys), anyway once again i cannot turn ignition on and assume its the barrel
is there any way i can get the ignition barrel out without the key being in the on position, on the cd manual it says ignition must be in the on position
to be able to press up the release pin from under shroud, problem is i can't turn the key to the on position.
all help much appreciated.
