I bet you typed this while holding your breath?
Lets try to take the points out of this one long sentence.
Parked it for 5 months, now battery bad and rough idle?

Yes. I was in a rush when I was typing. So any ideas on what's going on or just the grammar check.

Relax mate, we're here to help. Not to take a **** at ye, but you should have a bit of humour in all this.

First start with giving us your year, model, auto/manual etc information please

Without that information, just some info on what to do next:
Ok, so after your ride has been sitting for a while, things stiffen up.
I'd start with your battery. Do you have a voltmeter? Great handy thing to have around, and not too expensive. Charge your battery overnight and read its voltage. If its low, change the battery. If its ok, have it load tested, which will give you the answer if it's still good enough. A battery can be ok enough to start the engine, but subpar to do its job from there on.
Before we go ahead with further things: Is it just the rough idle, so driving fine otherwise? Or do you have rough running otherwise as well?

THis will help in the further diagnostics, because several things can be in play.
Just rough idle: given your IAC (Idle Air Control) and Throttle body a clean. Check your connections and clean up your grounds. Depending on circumstances it has been sitting in, rust might have taken the opportunity to settle nicely.

Once again, several things can cause your issue, so let us know how you go with the battery first.

It's a 98 classic 4.0 4wheel drive. Not sure of the transfer case I'm trying to figure that out as we speak. But just spent 5000 in parts and I want this to be done right. Thanks for the help I will try that out and take it From there.

I hope that includes the purchase price of the vehicle...If not, what did you buy for $5000?

I know I just said 4.5 long arm lift but I got the work shackle relocation skid plates pitman arm.
Duel stabilizers, track bar the whole nine. You get the point. And that doesn't include the price of the jeep I wish it did. No I'm not rich. It's my 30 next month and I served 4 years in the marine corps. Where I fell in love with jeeps and always wanted on and it took me over a year to save that money and build this vehicle. I'm starting a build thread if you guys want to follow along please feel free. And once I'm done if your in the tristate area hit me up and we can test out the trails. But anyway thanks for the help guys.

Let's see if we can get it running first?
Compared to your play-items, things like tune-up items will be peanuts. But ironically enough more important for now.

I completely agree with you. This is why I'm doing engine stuff now I don't want to do to much cause I want to pull the i6 out and drop a 4bt next summer witch will complete the build but I want to run it for now and have fun. I am going to check the battery this week and see what it tells me then I'll move in to the next thing. But thanks for the help

I hope you saved at least a grand or so to rebuild the complete front end a must with rigs this old and doing lifts, large tires lots of new strain on them, yes the ball joints too "everything" upgrade when possible. A complete tune-up/cooling system replace/Sensors/Etc. those are things that need to be done before you ever start with the other things you have purchased if it doesn't run what good is it.

Sounds like a new battery may be needed as well. Take your time and it will pay off in the long run by having a lifted XJ without issues, hopefully.
