I have a 2000 jeep cherokee sport 4.0L auto trans 106,000mi on it. When i went out and started it this morning it revved up to about 2,000 rpm's. i browsed through the other threads and found someone having a similar issue but his was slightly different. My jeep does not die when i let off the throttle just elevated idle speed. Im looking for some suggestions as to what i should look at first (try to save some time). it isn't throwing any trouble codes. seems to be running ok (no smoke, skips, sputters). any input anyone has will be greatly appreciated.

might be simple like throttle linkage needing a good clean and lube just a thought

 

if you have a cheak engine light on its probily tps or your cat is cloged

 

replace IAC
