Yep - direct swap. You need to replace the temp sender with the gauge style one and the oil pressure sender with the gauge style one, but they are also direct swap/plug and play.

 

it's super easy except getting to the sensors. the temp sensor at the back of the engine requires some patience and a crows foot.

 

I didn't have any trouble at all with the temp sender when I did the swap on my 95.

I used a 14mm deep socket (IIRC) on the old one (that literally fell apart in my hands) and a 9/16 deep socket (again IIRC) on the new one since for whatever reason the new sensor's hex part was SAE. It works perfectly though (sensor is BSD brand). I may be off on the sizes, but both deep sockets easily allowed me to remove and install.
I had way more trouble on the Oil pressure sender since it was on pretty tight and I didn't want to snap it off with the tiny threaded part of the sender still in the block!

 

I know this is an old thread, but I am looking at an Idiot light cluster to gauge cluster swap myself. Do you have more information, links or pictures on replacing the temp sender with the gauge style one and the oil pressure sender with the gauge style one?
