Default identify strange things stuck on inner roof

Hey all,
Haven't posted in a while. 99xj sport 4.0. Took the day to remove my headliner and as I was taking it out noticed a couple of battery-like devices attached to the roof via velcro. They are wired to each other and to the electronics for the interior light. There is a wire that ran to a black disk that was taped to the roof.

Any ideas? Do I leave them in place or can I get rid of them?

Thanks,
Mill

Peel the disc apart...... I'd love to see what's in it. Open the boxes too. They are not factory, someone added them to the vehicle. Almost looks GPS looking

btw, removed them and now the doors don't lock. Probably not related though. I'll break them open and send some pics when I have a minute.

Yeah, probably is related.

Looks like aftermarket alarm/entry.

The round disc looks like the antenna.

took some more pics of the stuff. the round disc is a moderately hard rubber. there's a wound copper wire inside.

It's a new reality TV show ... bait Jeeps.

I think you bought a prototype with all the video surveillance gear.

My gues is an aftermarket keyless entree. If the owner before you( if there is one) added it because the reciever in the dome light doesnt work that might explain why your stuff isnt working anymore. Are you using an aftermarket key fob?
