I want to convert my throttle body...Can I?
I have an 89 Cherokee with the 4.0L and it has the old tb. I have a tb off of a 91-95 that has been bored out, and I want to put it on my 89. I obviously don't care about the engine light, I just want to know it I have to change sensors, or anything to make it work.
I am also going to put the intake off of a 2001 on, if possible.
Anyone know?

thats an interesting idea
You might want to go to the local parts store, and ask to see an intake manifold gasket for your xj and the later xj with the HO engine
if they match up, I dont see why you could swap the whole FI system

my buddy recently changed his intake and TB on his 95 YJ to one off of a 99 along with ford 19* fuel injectors. it ran very rough and did not hold an idle. after some trouble shooting and eliminating parts it came down to the only keeper want the TB.

I haven't had a chance to get my jeep out of storage to compare or experiment yet, but my thinking is that there should be no difference for the intake manifold, from the 89 vs the 99 up, as to how it bolts on....
So I also think that I should be able to get rid of my old throttle body, and swap it with my bored tb off of a 95.
The only thing I think I will have to experiment with is the wiring or sensors.
It may take a couple of weeks before I can get to this project, but I will let everyone know exactly what it takes... I am just brainstorming right now, and was hoping someone else had already done this.

It's been well hashed out here .... if you didn't use the search button, it's not our fault.
To *quickly* repost the info .... the HO manifold does indeed bolt right up to the Renix head. However the ports/pathways do not line up properly.
You can also try a google search using my name and Renix to HO adapter. You will see an article I did years ago on such an adapter. I no longer make them .... so don't ask.
You can pay someone to TIG weld up the old Renix bolt pattern and then drill/tap for the new HO pattern. You'll have to adapt the throttle position sensor and will have to change the throttle cable too.

I tried searching, and never found what I was looking for, so I asked. Is that a big deal?
I search for every thing before I post.
But thanks for the help!
