Default I was thinking...

Someone mentioned on one of my earlier posts that he had vibration between 60-65 mph and it turned out to be I believe a U-joint in his front drive shaft near the card-something joint. Anyway, he said he found out because he removed the front shaft and vibration went away. Being a college student commuting 50-60 miles daily on I-81, can I run without my front shaft and see how it does? I have a 91 XJ if it matters. Also, does removing the front shaft help with mpg at all?

I have a 231 T-Case and if I remove my front drive shaft then the fluid will leak.

Depends on your transfer case.
Mine has a yoke thats bolted onto the shaft in the transfer case.
The Foxx has a slip on yoke.
you'll have to crawl under and take a look.

If it is a slip on yoke you might be able to unhook it from the axle and wire it up out of the way. I had to do that when I broke the 5/16 wrench I was using to remove it. I had to drive to the store to buy a new wrench!

DO NOT then try to put it in 4WD. Will not be pretty

Hey Fox! you sure about that transfer case number?
I just did a search on the 231 and all the pics I found have the yoke bolted to the output shaft.
