Default I need a NP242

Hey guys I have been doing alot of searching and I need some help. I have a '90 xj with an aw4 and an NP242 21 spline. I threw the rear shaft and it cracked the t case housing and instead of just replacing the housing to solve the problem I (without doing my research first) traded my bad NP242 to a pick a part for a NP242J out of a 93 xj country and through a whole bunch of headaches found out that the NP242J is a 23 spline. So now im stuck with a good 23 spline NP242J when I need 21 spline NP242. So im wondering if anyone has a 21 spline that I could buy or trade for a 23 spline. And im also wondering if I found a 21 spline NP231 if it would work as well, with the mounting and overall operation? Please if anyone has any advise im in need of some.

a 231 would fit, you'd have to swap the shifter.

your best bet is to find a 21 spline np231, and pull the input shaft out of it, and put that in the xj...or have someone here ship you just the input.

rebuiliding an np242 is pretty easy.

just the cost of the input. maybe the chain and filter since you'll have it apart. max cost, $115 with chain at $89-$95, and filter from $15-$20
