Yes. Tried jumping both the FP relay and the ASD relay with no luck on either. Maybe I should try jumping both at the same time lol.
Anyhow I found I have a voltage issue on the output terminal of both the FP and ASD relays. Possible bad ground? going to go get some terminals and add a couple grounds and see what happens. Kind of stabbing in the dark at this point.

Im out of ideas and am now desperate. Does anyone have anymore ideas? Im going to call it good for tonight and I'll start fresh tomorrow after work.

After dealing with the same issue all day today (and similarly missing work because of it) I just got mine going a half hour ago. I went and got a new 30A relay (exact same as the other three in your power centre (Starter, Cooling fan, and fuel pump) and shoved it in. She was running like a dream.
Try that and let's see how it goes.

Thanks Turbosparky. I already replaced the relays but I'll give it another go as well...tomorrow anyhow. I'm burnt on this thing. now makes 4 days solid of nothing but this jeep. Thank goodness my other jeep is running good. *knock on wood lol*
On the plus side with the trip to the junkyard today I got some pretty cool goodies for both jeeps.

ok update. changed the PCM and now it TRIES to start but still nothing. Cranks and cranks with the occasional "almost started". I need to wait for a buddy to get off work so I can see if there is a strong spark while he cranks on it.
Also, the only PCM for a 96 I was able to find was a 296 and I originally had a 199. Are these two compatible?

Nothing as of yet, but I'm at work now. I'll pm tj in a few.
Thanks for the videos and the lead to tj DF.
I'm going to put the original ecm back in and see if I get anything with it or not. The new one is just giving me a MIL 12 & 55 saying nothing is wrong.

Ccken, I don't have number on me now but I'll post when I get home. The 296 and 199 were from the same program group. The difference is the 199...Had a tsb for a reflash, the 296 doesn't.

Mine did the same thing and it was the ground on the ignition switch. It wasn't sending a signal to my ecu to "wake up" I got a new ignition switch and and plug. Don't know it's your issue but good to check.

I'll check that out. Thank you. When your ignition went out, were you getting the initial check engine light saying it's on when you first started your jeep of tried to start it?
Also, Ford anyone know the most common failure points on the wiring harness? If like to check those first before I pull the whole harness out and pull everything apart.

Ok. So I had a minute to run home and check on things. Double checked the voltage at the relay terminals (PDC side). If grounded at the battery at b16 (constant) I have 12v and at b18 (switched source) I have 12v. If I ground at terminal b20 (relay ground) at b16 I have 12v & b18 drops to 5v. Could this be a pcm ground issue?
