I need help with 4x4 problems!

So I have a 98 5 speed and every time I put it in 4 high it makes a grinding noise when I let the clutch out. 4 low works fine. And ideas to my problem?!?

easiest this would be to check the linkage. even taking it apart and manually shifting it...
