Not all 87-90 XJ's will have a Dana44 rear axle.

Your link is no good.

I think that's a Dana44... hmm, it says, "Use Limited Slip Gear Lube Only". I can't read the stamp on the housing that would give the gear ratio and if it had limited slip or not, but that sounds good!

One of these days I'll need to hit up a pick-n-pull yard. How do they work? Just show up with your tools and go out into the field?

I forgot to consider gear ratio...
Gearing

3.07 - used with 4.0L engine / manual transmission
3.31 - only available on older (pre87?) 2 door XJs with "Fuel Economy" package
3.55 - used with 4.0L engine / automatic transmission
3.73 - found in some XJs with the towing package
4.10 - used with 2.5L engine usually, and older XJs with the "Off-Highway Vehicle" package.

my gearing is 3.55
guess i have to make sure its not 3.73

99% of the XJ D44's are gonna be 3:55's. I once found one with 3:07's (2wd).. but thats rare.

I also found one with dealer installed 4:10's.

Hey Daytona guys, if you're planning an LKQ trip, let me know so I can join up. I need some random stuff, and the local self-serve yard sucks for most things.

The tag shows 3.54 gears. Snag it before someone else does. Just be ready to rebuild it depending on mileage and also to rebuild the Limitied Slip.

Yep, I've heard of them. Never been there, though. Gonna have to head over there one day.
