I run long arms made of 2" solid alloy stock.
Did you run these brackets before?

The stock control arms can handle mild 4wheeling but once it gets extreme, you are better off upgrading. I mainly do mudding around here and there's not much that could damage a control arm unless i run into a stump going too fast but i'm always crawling less than 5 mph. My gf's brother brought a 94 xj last year and managed to mangle both passenger side control arms the first time he took it off road. He was new to the jeep world and coming from dirt bikes and atv's so speed was his thing. The arms were destroyed when he was gong through a field a little too fast and didn't see the BIG hole. It bent both controls pretty good. I guess that's why they are designed weak, to take the blunt of the impact instead of snapping the axle.

I am in the process of swapping all four of my stock arms out cuz the bushing are going so i'll keep the old ones on board, just in case

Yes, I have run 6" on Rough Country short arms, then 6" on Rusty's short arms (Wow, what a rough, unsafe ride) Then I went to RE drop brackets for about 8 months. I beat the crap out of them and never got hung on anything. Going from SA to drop brackets made an incredible difference and was WELL worth the money. Then, I guy bugged me to death about my RE brackets so I sold them to him and upgraded to Rock Krawler long arms. I've never had the pleasure of wheeling with stock arms. THey were in the trash several days after I bought the Jeep.

Smart move the OEM arms are junk and can be used only on the highway IMHO. The stock arms are good to weight down the bottom of a gill net though. Again just a suggestion.

X2 on adj. CAs. The strength alone is worth the $. Plus they usually flex better than the stockers!!

I agree. At least the uppers should be adjustable to keep the caster correct on hard pavement. Tire wear to a minimum is the goal of correct caster. Now off pavement caster is not very important, but it still needs to be relatively correct but a trail only rig can get by with eyeballing it.

I used the stock arms in the stake pockets of my old trailer to hold some side boards on.....

I've seen them break/tear right where the bushings are at when going through trenches.

Good use. I wonder if they will fit into my pick-up's stake pockets. If they will that would be a much better use for them that just as weights.

Good thread I didn't know about the WJ arms. I have looked at Markus' website a thousand times and must have ignored that part. Good work.
