I have a strange problem
My issue is with the ignition. The key would not engage the starter, so I was using my remote starter for a while. After a wheeling trip I got home turned the ignition off and the jeep continued to run for 3 second(with key out/ignition in off position)before it shut off. I changed the ignition and it worked properly for 3 or 4 start/shutoffs. Now its back to staying running after the key is removed. Im lost with this one,any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well i thought I had this problem licked. I was wrong! I replaced the ignition switch and thought it was resolved. What i think I did was moved the #10 fuse(starting system as labeled)to the spare location at the same time I replaced the switch. Iv had a C.E.L. for NSS. I noticed I had no reverse lights. So after some digging I found the fuse was also the #10fuse. I put the fuse in and my reverse lights came on. Then the jeep would continue to run for 3 seconds after the key was removed. If I remove the fuse the jeep will shut off as it should. HELP! Anything would be great.

I had to read that 3 times to get all the info... and i still don't have any idea why the iginition and the reverse lights are connected like you are describing.

When you say you changed the ignition, did you also change the plastic rod coming from the tumbler? This may sound strange, but is there a crack in the metal steering column?

Agent-I'm confused about the fuse myself. My buddy's had a similar issue with the same fuse. His wouldn't shift into overdrive. He did not have the ignition issue.
Eagle- I have inspected the column and see no cracks or anything else outta place. No i did not change the rod, only the ignition tumbler assembly. It's got me baffled on what next to check.
