I Have a few Cherokee question....Wheels, Lift, Alternator
To start I have a 1996 Cherokee 4x4 and im getting ready to add 31-10.5x15 mud terrain and a set of soft 8's and a 3" budget lift. The first question I have isthe Wheels Does anyone have any pictures of a cherokee with black 15" wheels that have 3.5" backspacing and any pictures with black 15" wheels that have 4" backspacing I can't decide which one that I want. I want them to stick past the stock fender flares but not a lot. The second question I have is the 3" budget lift comes with.....
2 - 3" Poly Spacers
Set of Pro Comp add-a-leaf w/ center bolts
4 - Shocks
Installation Instructions (FBGXJ3-8KS)
My question now is do I need anything else to go with this kit? The third question I have is how hard is it to upgrade to the 136 amp Alternator off of the 98 Grand Cherokee 5.2L? My Alternator has died after I went wheeling and I think it got wet. I also heard that It could be the Voltage Regulator where is this located at? The reason I want to up grade it is I want to run about 8 spot lights 2 on the bumper 4 on the top of my rack and 2 on the back of the rack, and a winch. So I dont know if the stock 90 amp Alternator will handle the load
Thanks for any help.

the stock 90 amp alternator should be able to handle that load but whats the fun in that rite? I have a 170 amp powermaster alternator. I have 6 baja lights, 4 overhead spotlights, and a sound system with 2 12 inch subs and 600 watt amp. I can have everything on at idle and not drain the battery.
but... my experience with the alternator replacement was crappy. first they sent me one with a V belt pulley attachment. then they mailed me the 6 notch serpentine attachment pulley and I put that on the alternator and thought life was great. went to install and no holes lined up. so I had to totally re order and they finally sent me the 170 amp alternator for the jeep cherokee
but wait theres more... went to install this bahemith and there was no way it would fit, we had to grind and fabricate the alternator mounts. but any way, now life is good
save the extra money and get the regular 3" lift with 2 front coils, 4 shocks, and 4 add a leafs. I love mine and Ive had it for years without a problem

heres a pic of that powermaster 170 AMP alternator = $195
90 amp replacements run = $70-$90
and heres a pic of my rig with the rough country 3" lift kit with Dick Cepek 31" tires
Lift = $195
4 tires = $600

it was quite a bit of grinding to get it to clear.
the rack I got off of ebay when I was in highschool. I got it for about $100
this next summer im going to fab a full length rack that goes through the roof and ties into the frame
