my old tires that came with the heep are almost bald....and when i say almost i mean just enough tread to tell theres some there. its so bad that at the lake the other day i pull off in a small grassy ditch and almost got stuck....oh and BTW my jeep is 2wd, so i want something aggressive so i dont ever get stuck. I was thinking about getting M/T or an A/T, and i come down to either getting BFG T/A K/O (all terrain) or BFG KM2(mud terrain)......and im enunciating like this for a reason

any advice? and please i dont wanna hear why would you put those tires on a 2wd because ive been places in my 2wd that some here havent been in their 4wds, im just wanting some input on the better tire, the only thing i will need the tires to do is to grip in mud and wet ground. i guess what im really asking is if the BFG a/ts are gonna get me by when i do something stupid and pull of in something i shouldnt

you dont wanna get stuck? stay on the pavement....Sorry couldnt resist.... M/Ts are gonna wear pretty fast, but A/Ts wear good but give up traction. look at treadwright.com they have some aggressive A/Ts they have a tire the tread is the same as BFG A/T for less $...the BFG A/Ts do pretty good unless it get real sloppy. I forgot to add get a locker youll have as much traction as a 4wd with open diffs. My buddy can follw me most places sometimes more depending in his Prerunner with the elocker yota my yota is 4x4

i have the at's on my dodge and at 30k miles the tread is less than 3/8. i think they wore too fast, as far as performance, i have zero complaint. i have made it through trails that only locked 4x4's go through. and made it look easy. they do get pretty loud if you don't rotate them every 5k miles.

I'd go with the AT's. I used to have a 2wd S-10 that would get stuck if it left pavement. the all terrans helped alot

if u dont want to get stuck, should have bought a 4x4
but if you want some good all terains for cheap, get some pathfinders. i had mine on my jeep for 5 years and they were only half way worn with 42000 rock crushing miles on them. no cracking either!

partly true....most times 4wd just takes you further

cooper discovery a/t is a very good running tire as well as being capable off road
the bfg a/t k/o however IMO is junk the tread packs up and i've had them blow leaving about 3-4 inches of side wall on the rim w/ only 15-1600 miles on them (2 different tires 2 different trucks)
hope that helps with your selection

get the km2s, i had the bfg a/t before and they suck in the mud but now i have the km2s and they kick ***

well im glad i have some replys now, thank you for the suggestions on the tires, i havent even looked into those. i really wanted to get an A/T since i wouldnt be using a M/T enough to really justify it

and fishtaconc, i was actually considering a locker, just didnt want to throw a whole nother grand into my xj.

and i did want a 4x4, but it wasnt my choice as i didnt pay for it and the 2wd is alot cheaper on insurance...and i dont pay that either so i cant be too picky

ive heard of some saying the bfg a/ts are not good in mud and thats why i was leaning towards the km2s, also those two were the best looking tires i had seen(yeah im looking at tire looks too) i want a tire that looks bad@$$ and functions as well

sorry for the kinda rambling randomness, I have ADD so kinda hard to consentrate

i work @ walmart in the tle and we sell a good year authority thats good in the mud and on the street here's what they look like my buddy runs them and he says they work better than the bfg all terains and on average are only around $130 a tire and that price is for a 31x10.5x15

Okay, if you like the BFG AT's look at General Grabber AT2's i ran them for about 40,000 and have no complaints. Same tire as the BFG just cheaper.

i ran a 265/70/15 on a 1.5" budget boost
