Tried my hatch key today and it wouldn't go in the lock all the way. So I tried the key to my dad's Cherokee and that key went in fine but would not turn.

I oiled the lock with no results.

My key fits the other doors and ignition fine. What are my options on getting the hatch to open with a key?

I do need to be able to use a key to open the door occasionally, and I hate to rely completely on power locks.

 

Forgive my stupidity. I tried the factory original key when I got home and it worked the hatch fine, along with the front doors and ignition.

I don't know why the 2 copies the PO gave me will work the ignition and front doors, but not the rear hatch.

I will take the factory original key that I have and go to the best locksmith in town and see if I can get a copy that will work all the locks.

Some keys are made as "valet" keys. So they'll open doors but not the rear hatch.

 

So where would u get a new key and lock for the hatch?

 

Pull the hatch lock cylinder take it to a locksmith with a good key that fits doors & ignition & have him code the lock to your existing door & ignition key. Probably 25 to 35 dollars.
