Default HVAC controller - vacuum lines question

I recently replaced my water pump, heater core, belt & thermostat. It gets nice and warm. I charged the lines for the AC unit. But I can only run it on my face and gets hot inside. If I run it on the feet I don't have hardly any coming out. Now I made sure to hook everything up correctly. From the blend door, vacuum lines, hvac controller and made sure the dash sits nicely against the heater box. I have noticed the lead vacuum line by the accumulator is ticking a bit. I was told I had a vacuum leak. A few months someone back into my jeep. Crushing the bumper. Which was replace. I noticed a small hair line crack is the reservoir. Could this be the reason why my hvac controller is in a weird funk?

that reservoir behind the bumper is the vacuum storage for the movement
of the a/c and heater doors in the dash. a crack would have the affect.
you should replace it.

yes that is the main line. from there it tees off to the heater and the axle
if you have a disconnect.

Hey this is my first post, I have a '97 4.0L. As stated above my heat/ac is only coming out of my defrost vents which is the result of a broken vacuum line, so I've read. I consulted my Haynes book and didn't really get anywhere. I found the above diagram to be very helpful, but on my cherokee I can't seem to find the vacuum pump which is pictured inside the bumper in the diagram above.

I found two broken hoses that I believe are contributing to this probelm, but I can't seem to find a solution in terms of fixing this. One hose is a very small line that stems off a "T" in the main line which then runs through a foam seal. The other breakage was at the end of the main line located near the front right fender (in between the battery and fender). I searched for a long time where this hose may have connected to at one time, but can't seem to find anything. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.

Keep looking, move some things around use a vacuum pump and listen for leeks on the other end of the lines you are testing. Or find someone that has a similar jeep and see if they will let you compare. I would start off with a vacuum pump first though.

Finally fixed this. I capped the main line with a rubber vacuum cap and I got some mini airline hose from a local aquarium shop to reconnect the line off the T. I guess you don't need the vacuum reservoir because I don't have one!

The reservoir is just to keep everything working when the engine isn't running or when you smash on the gas

I know this is an older thread but I been having issues. Lately my windows have been really slow going up and down. I have to help them. Also dont get air to my vents. Could this be a cause from my canister?

As far as effecting your Windows, no. They run electricity on their own. I'd take of the door panels and check for dirt and grime if you wheel it. Also if they just go up slow you may have to replace the actuator.

Air to you vents: check your blower. The canister is responsible in aiding the opening and closing of the valves in the dash so it's possible they may be stuck closed. I have removed the canister from mine entirely and caped the line, I don't notice any difference

The "Cube" is the Vacuum Reservoir.

Here's the parts catalog page for the 94-96 vacuum system.

Item #8 is the reservoir. Item #7 is the tube that runs behind the battery, see if it's still there.

Several MOPAR parts on line stores list the reservoir. Here's one.

Here's another. Type in 52004366 in the part number search window.
