Default Hub help!

So, ive got a little problem... I am trying to relpace the bearing in my hubs off a dana 30 but i want break free the large center nut! I tried my impact first and it didnt budge, so then i put a 3/4in ratchet on it and all i did was turn the other tire... Even dousing it it PB didnt help. My next option is gona be heating it up or putting the 1in impact on it but im not sure if heating it up will warp anything? Any Ideas??? Thanks Justin.

i'm a little confused but i think your talking about your 36mm axle nut.. i usually use a 1/2'' ratchet and a real long breaker bar or pipe. you have to wedge something between on of the wheel studs and the ground to keep it from just spinning. if your outside on stones or grass i would suggest a piece of plywood to work on. other then that i would also check to make sure there isn't a piece of cotter pin left in there somewhere that is screwing you up, i doubt it though.

Make sure your not in four wheel drive or it won't break loose

sounds to me like your doing this with it jacked up. service manual says to do it with the tire on, wheel on the ground. try this. use the weight of the vehicle to your advantage.

Put a prybar into the yoke to prevent the axle shaft from turning.

i would definitely just put the tires on and lower it to the ground to break the axle nut loose....don't try jamming something in there to keep it from turning.

Use a 1/2" strong arm and a 4' +/- length of cheater pipe if the impact won't do it

Why not? I've yet to blow up a shaft by doing it that way.

pry bar in the yoke works.

I didnt like that Idea so I took a piece of plywood and stuck it under a lug in my swampers so it wouldnt spin.

then I used a 4' breaker bar and that barely worked

just put it in 4wd and pull the parking brake. that will keep all the wheels from spinning.
