When I purchased my Jeep with 88k miles I guess i paid more attention to rust Underneath body than on the actual body and I missed this spot. Its not too bad. I was able to stick my finger in there and feel around and I don't see how water would get there. I poured water with water hose all over top, etc and then checked and nothing. Any idea?


I'm going to dremel it out and then weld a piece over. Its really the only place this jeep has rust.

Probably a factory defect in the paint. OR somebody managed to gouge the paint at some point.

Remember, though, rust is always worse than it looks. Be careful to get it all, or it will spread. Worse, it may spread behind the scenes and do a lot of damage before it pokes out where you can see it.

 

ya at first I was thinking be PO had installed some CB antenna or something there. but who knows. It looks bigger on Camera pics but in reality my index finger barely fits in there.

I have the same rust spot on mine. It hasn't opened up yet but if I took my finger to it, I would have a hole just like yours. Thinking about it now, does your windshield leak? Mine does and when it rains I see water dripping from that rust spot. So maybe when you windshield leaks the water goes over there and sits and rusts.
