How to wire the license plate light?
Hi All,
I installed a new swing-out tire carrier in my 2001 Cherokee Sport. It blocked the license plate. So, I have installed an adapter and now the license plate is mounted on the fifth wheel / spare tire. Can someone please tell me how I can wire the license plate light? Any pictures and step-by-step instruction would be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Karthik

I assume you have zero electrical knowledge?
The easiest way would be to ground the negative wire (Probably black) to the tire carrier and run the positive wire (Probably red) to your positive tail light wire.
You're going to want to install a disconnect plug near the light so you can remove the license plate before you remove the tire.
If it were me, I'd mount the plate to the hatch but off to the side so it's still visible but you don't have to remove it to get to the spare tire.
