Stock XJ with stock gears and 31's is gonna suck doing 80 all the time. The automatic trans, at least in my 92, is constantly down shifting and I even have some mods done to the engine which helped a ton. I'm hoping my new axles with 4.10s will fix this problem.

As far as ride, it's not too bad. I like my vehicles to "react" to the road so I don't mind but it's definitely not plush.

So if you put a 3in on with 31's you have to change the gears if you want a dd. Or do you have to do more stuff to the motor?

Your fine I dd mine with 31s and its just fine.

A buddy of mine runs 33s on a stock dd, no problem. He also flogs the crap out of his 94 and has not had an issue.

Can't wait to get a 3" lift but it'll look a little silly riding on my 235/75 for a while :/
