This is how you set an XJ on fire...I assume.

Been having some running issues that mocked a bad fuel pump. Decided mine is under warranty, so I dropped & cleaned the tank, blah, blah.

While waiting for the new one to get here & the tank to dry I decided to clean my throttle body, IAC, check manifold bolts, & most importantly inspect grounds as it would be the most likely culprit of my issues I've been havi for a little while.

Started moving the black scrunchy wrap and heard a spark sound. Immediately took battery ends off. Undid the wrap and this is what I found. The only issues I have had is cutting in ans out at start ups, & when taking off, like a fuel pump, until yesterday it it cut off on me going 55mph out of nowhere, kept giving it gas and it picked back up then did it again. It picked back up and ran home pretty normal. Also I have had a weird turn signal issue for a long while. The two may or may not be related.

Decided I had to find out what this was today, and not wait around. So by the end of the day I should have a new fuel pump, filter, cleaned TB, IAC, new cables. Just put fresh plugs and wires, distributor cap, and rotary button in 2 weeks ago. Hopefully this gets it back to completely normal.

Never seen smoke or anything. Ground melted over in half. Positive bad too. Unbelievable. Listen to Crusier and check your grounds. I mean I check my fairly often but not often enough. Take care.

Something aftermarket, or a homemade cable to the starter?

If that was the right way to set a Cherokee on fire, this is definitely the wrong way.

Well,it seems to have worked......

Hey, girl, maybe instead of torching the dude's car, the lesson here is to choose a better class of people to hang out with.

Ah, but then, that would require you to be a better class of person., so....

tips...if you want to set your BFs car on fire;

scrunch up a sheet of newspaper and set alight the ball...throw that from a good distance to avoid vapor

put a blanket over yourself...that will conceal your identity from security cameras (amusing story)...and also protect against flames
