I am trying to re-drill my track bar, I finally got the nut off the back just to be unable to force the bolt out. I made some progress as you can see I can slide a pry under the head but she won't budge anymore. I tried prying the base of bolt forward while turning head with a wrench. And can't get past this point. Tried turning tires , jacking up and resetting . Is there a tip I am missing , i need to finish to drive to work tomorrow. Thanks

 

Get more pressure of track bar. PB, Heat, More pb, more heat, dead blow or other hammer, heat, pb, hammer. And if that doesnt work... Try and re-leave more pressure on the track bar.

 

Thanks, This was my thought, what is the best method? It seems like jacking up jeep any where puts more tension on the bolt...

 

ive almost always been able to get bolts out in those situations by simply backing it out with a ratchet

 

Never tried this but it might work - with the engine running pull on the bolt with a claw hammer while someone steers left to right in the drivers seat. This might help wiggle the bolt out

 

I normally am able to back them out too. I have prob turned the ratchet 100 times and it backed out about an 1/8" then no more.... I'm about to try adobe hilift on the bumper a buddy suggested to release tension... If not I'll try the wheel turning while pulling Tomorrow. Thanks any more ideas keep em coming ...

 

Id put the front of the jeep up without putting any pressure on the front axle. Or if that doesnt work try and put the axle up on that side just a bit.

 

sounds like the nut is spinning freely, mine did that when i installed my lift, its not a typical welded on nut it has an arm on it that tends to bend allowing it to spin freely.

cut the bolt and replace it with a grade 8 or better, then just use a nut on the back cause if i recall correctly you can fit a wrench in there

 

He said he got the nut off. tho? The bolt its self is what stuck?

 

Yeah he got the nut off, the problem is that tension on the bar is making it difficult to yank the bolt out of the sleeve. Ive had this problem too, ended up messing up the threads a bit forcing the bolt out. Cant remember exactly how i did it but a hammer was involved

 

Angle grinder is your friend.

 

And then i guess just go and take the bolt tab thingy and find a bolt that fits in it.

I did mine last week. While I fought it to remove it I later learned while installing a new pitman arm I can get a lot of leverage on the pitman arm nut. I couple tries and the track bar should loosen up. (sway bar disconnected) you can really see the body move.

When I did mine I did not have a friend to turn the wheel back a forth. I pushed against the body, jump on the bumper turned the wheel back and forth finally and did the trick. I always do it the hard way then learn.
