Okay guys, so I'm a bit stumped right now. I've had the window lock switch problem since I bought the xj. Im the only one who can work the windows. Now I was thinking about doing one of the bypasses, but first I went and took my doors off. Well after I got the drivers one off I realized... The windows still don't work on any door, even with the switch disconnected.... I tried the paper clip thing b/t the yellow and tan wires in the first hookup, but that didn't even do anything. So I'm thinking, should I grab the door end of that hookup from the jy and then short that one so I can plug it in when doorless?

uh.

wtf are you smoking?

alll power directed to windows and locks travels through the driver's door master switch. none of those wires will have any continuity, i.e. zero power supply.

put the door back on and stop doing things without thinking. there was no reason to take it off for a power window issue. the issue with the window lock is internal in the master switch. do the bypass after putting it back together, and don't look back.

...but why would he need to? if one door is off, the other ones will surely be gone.

he's just trying to make the rest of the switches work, and he's not doing it right.

I took the door off because I plan to wheel with no doors this summer. I'm not a complete idiot, thank you.

Haha got me! Naw the rears are staying on. Barely ever have people back there anyway haha. I guess If I have no doors anyway I can just roll all the windows down before I take em off and then not worry about it haha.

i didn't say you were.

you need to provide better information before you post.

either way, the only way to bypass it with no driver's door on is to cut and splice the harness, and relocate the control switches.

Well I apologize for not being clear. So basically I'm saying that if everything was functional and all windows operable normally they still would not work with no driver door?

no, that's what I'm saying.

the door may be removed, but if the driver's door wiring and window switch is not connected, you will NOT be operating the rear doors without doing a bunch of bypassing.

Ok, you're only half an idiot. Just leave the doors on, you'll be happier for it.

So far with one off it's quite fun. Besides I can put em on in 10 minutes and it's like they were never off.
